Poole Sports Trust was set up in 1967 with the purpose of establishing a revolutionary indoor sports complex that in fact opened in 1969, being only the second to open in the country. Since then much development has taken place and in 1986 a second multi-purpose centre, Broadstone Leisure Centre was opened.

Poole Sports Trust is registered with the Charity Commission and does not receive any annual subsidies from any other organisation and provides facilities for the local community with an open access 'sport for all' policy. Indeed over the years the Poole Centre has hosted a number of international events.

Through a combination of staff training, fund raising for charities for the disabled and the renowned 'skills for life' coaching programme for children, the Trust and it's subsidiary operating centres provides an ideal venue for the local community's leisure requirements. A unique feature of the trust ensures that all surplus funding raised through the leisure facilities is re-invested back into the facilities to provide more sport.
